I’ve come to realize that most families don’t avoid full-time travel because they hate the idea of it.

I was the one holding us back from wanting to travel long term in the beginning. And what I’ve learned is that when one partner wants to take a family gap year, travel full time with kids, or leave their job to travel, the disagreement is usually about much more than travel.

Because the worst-case scenario was that we would come back and reapply for the jobs we had already been doing for 10 years. And now, looking back, it feels wild that our “worst-case scenario” was just returning to the life we already knew.
