If you’re visiting with family, I highly recommend staying in Centro Histórico. Everything is walkable, and it puts you right in the middle of it all—without the need for a car. Uber is a great option for getting you and your family to spots like La Gruta, and if you’re planning to visit La Cañada de la Virgen, you can book a bus tour ahead of time for easy transportation.
Don’t forget to bring pesos! San Miguel isn’t known for accepting other currencies, so it’s best to pull cash from an ATM when needed. We always use our bank card and have never been charged ATM fees.
