We got this piece of advice on our very first nigh

We got this piece of advice on our very first night in Hanoi. 🤯

At first I thought he was joking when he said: “walk into traffic, don’t run”

Like… there’s no way that could actually be true, right? Especially with two kids.

But then we stepped outside and right into the chaos of motorbikes..suddenly it all made sense. The traffic literally flows around you if you’re steadily crossing and not running like a mad man to make it to the otherside.

There are more motorbikes than people in Vietnam and they’re not just in the streets, they’re on the sidewalks too.

But once you do it, it actually feels kind of cool. Like you cracked the code on crossing the street and you somehow become part of it.

It felt terrifying at first, but honestly it worked. Every. Single. Time.

✈️ Moms, this is one of those things you’ll only learn once you’re there, and it completely changed how we got around with kids.

Wait, what?! Walk into the street?!

And here’s what we quickly learned about traffic in Vietnam, it doesn’t stop (unless of course there’s a light). It flows.

Motorbikes are everywhere (there are actually more motorbikes than people in the country).

They even drive and park on the sidewalks, which means you’re often left walking in the road anyway.

The wild part?

When you step off the curb and start walking slowly and steadily… the motorbikes move around you. No one slams on brakes. No one honks. You become a park of the traffic flow.

We were shocked at first, but yes… we did this too. And once you get it, it’s almost magic how easy it works.

That moment every parent dreads… 💔 We were c

That moment every parent dreads… 💔

We were cruising down the streets of Thailand, laughing on our bikes, when suddenly everything changed.

My daughter’s foot slipped into the spokes. The bike stopped on her ankle.

Her ankle swelled instantly. My heart dropped.

We rushed her to the ER terrified it was broken, terrified of what care would look like in another country.

But here’s the truth:

The hospital staff were incredible. She was seen immediately, cared for with compassion, and thankfully no broken bones.

Best of all? Everything was 100% covered by our travel insurance.

The US ranks 128 on the Global Peace Index in 2025.

So there are 127 other countries Americans can visit that are considered safer than the US according to the 2025 Global Peace Index ranking 163 countries in total.

I don’t say this to scare you or keep you from traveling in the US, but rather to show you, you can travel outside the US and be safe while having fun!

Here’s what 11 months of full-time travel abroad with our kids has shown us:

✅ Strangers always looking out for us.

✅ Locals welcoming our children everywhere

✅ Great food and so many fun things to get into.

We stay aware of our surroundings, choose neighborhoods wisely (just like you would at home), and skip the “bubble” of all-inclusives.
